PROJECT CHECKLIST PART SIX: PROVIDING FOR TENANTS
Different tenants will require differing accommodations, and meeting
those can financially impact your project's economic health. Here are
some important questions to ask:
Do you know what kind of tenant improvements your commercial tenants
will require?
If you plan to rent to a restaurant, have you provided for a grease
trap or exhaust system?
Do you have enough storage to meet maintenance and tenant needs?
What kinds of common facilities and equipment can you provide your tenants
to reduce their costs of doing business?
Do you have a sign plan for your building? Who is overseeing it? Who
will pay for tenant signage for the building?
Have you thought of developing a cooperative marketing campaign
for your retail and service tenants?
What community events will you use to attract customers?
How will you support your tenants to maintain the health and longevity
of their businesses?
Next let's look at some of the decisions that need to be made when
establishing tenant policies.
